Compensation: Base salary $62,790.00 (starting salary will be commensurate with experience)
Duties: The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office is seeking to hire an assistant district attorney. An assistant district attorney in this position will be assigned to assist in our Trial Division. Assistant District Attorneys in the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office are responsible for the prosecution of a wide array of criminal offenses to include all phases of a prosecution from pre-investigation through post-sentence appeals. This includes consulting with police during the investigation, reviewing and approving search warrants, providing final approval on criminal charges, handling preliminary hearings, preparing, and prosecuting criminal trials and litigating pre- and post-trial motions. Applicants must meet the requirements of the position and a criminal history background check.
About us: Located in south central Pennsylvania, Cumberland County is the fastest growing county in the Commonwealth. The office currently has recently increased its staff of full-time attorneys to 14 attorneys. Assistant District Attorneys in Cumberland County have the benefit of the resources of the office’s detectives, victim advocates, and forensic laboratory. The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office is in the unique position of having its own forensic laboratory for the testing of DNA, blood, controlled substances, in addition to fingerprint analysis, crime scene processing and computer & phone digital forensics. Our Victim Services Division works closely with our attorneys to assist them prepare witnesses for trial. Assistant District Attorneys are assigned as Community Prosecutors to which allows them to build better working relationships with the officers of their assigned law enforcement departments as well as the citizens of those communities.
